Mighty Oak, or Wind Driven Chaff? Psalm 1:2-6

“Instead he finds pleasure in obeying the Lord’s commands; he meditates on his commands day and night. He is like a tree planted by flowing streams; it yields its fruit at the proper time,

and its leaves never fall off. He succeeds in everything he attempts.

Not so with the wicked! Instead they are like wind-driven chaff.

For this reason the wicked cannot withstand judgment, nor can sinners join the assembly of the godly. Certainly the Lord guards the way of the godly, but the way of the wicked ends in destruction.” Psalm 1:2-6

The writer of this Psalm makes some brilliant observations. Those who make God’s word of great import in their lives, are like a great oak properly rooted, properly nourished.

Those who choose to disregard the Master and His instruction, know no such steadiness and provision. Neither now, nor in the world to come. If you have been neglectful of God’s word in your life, begin afresh today. Take some time to hear from the Lord through His inspired word.
