Many say, “Who can show us anything good?” Smile upon us, Lord!
You make me happier than those who have abundant grain and wine.
I will lie down and sleep peacefully, for you, Lord, make me safe and secure. –Psalm 4:6-8
Those who have never tasted of the Lord’s goodness (Psalm 34:8), have no idea what they are missing.
It says in Hebrews that “without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who approaches God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.” (Heb. 11:6)
When a person puts all of their hope and trust in God, and God alone, for this life and for salvation, the result is what David writes about in this Psalm. You then see God more clearly, you can feel His goodness “shining upon you,” you have gladness that nothing can compare to, and you have a certain peace that no storm of life can take away. Friend, if you have never fully trusted Jesus with your life, today is the day to change that. Cry out to Him and ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and to show you His goodness. He is faithful, and will honor your sincere request.
He is good.
