The King Reacts

“Then the king arose, tore his clothes and lay on the ground and all his servants were standing by with clothes torn.” -2 Samuel 13:31 -David learns of the death of Amnon his son.

I wish people of power and position in our day had enough sense to react properly to the tragedy of our day. Humiliation before God is needed. He gives grace to the humble.

  1. Unfortunately, I think that is a side-effect of our culture. I find it interesting that, in the Bible, the people you often see weeping and mourning are *men* of God; however, in our culture that is a sign of weakness – an act relegated to the role of women. Maybe we should try to define what it means to be a man of God based on Biblical examples rather than what our culture defines a man as?
